Biography [08 May 2008|12:55am]
My father was a great man, and a great scientist. He excelled in the fields of astrophysics and astronomy. The stars, planets, moons, galaxies, and nebulae, they were all his passions, and he always believed that there was other life out there… somewhere. Maybe one day, we would find them. And so we did, in his life time no less. Or rather, they found us. Instead of this being a joyous thing to my father, it was one of the most devastating. The others, called the Geist, brought war and destruction on a grand scale. But even worse, on a more personal level, the loss of his wife, my mother. I was only 8 years old when she died. As tremendous of an impact this interplanetary war had on us, what influenced us the most was definitely her death. In fact, it actually pulled us into the war. It drove my father into his work and was the push that lead him to his largest and by far most challenging project yet, the Mars Conversion Project. Yep, it’s exactly what it sounds like. He was attempting to change Mars into a more Earth-like planet. Sure, it might sound crazy to some, but how magnificent would it be if it worked? A whole nother planet to expand to and live on, and it’s right next door. It wasn’t long after her death that I took an interest in my father’s work. He was always so busy with it, I felt the best way to spend time with him was to take interest in his work so we could work together. And so we did. I learned a tremendous amount about the cosmos and the way it worked at a young age. I knew more about astrophysics and astronomy at age 15 than many 22 year olds who had just graduated with a degree in those fields. If it wasn’t for my early education, I most certainly would not be where I am today – heading the Mars Conversion Project. It doesn’t matter if I’m in the labs on Earth, or the ones in the Echo Colony on Mars, I’m always trying to figure out different approaches to converting, or “terraforming,” Mars. Some might say it’s an obsession of mine, and they’re probably right. But this was my father’s vision, and I want to see it through.

At least, that was before she had been asked to begin the SELM Research and Development. This took complete precedence, yet was highly secretive. The only person who knew where the funding for this project was coming from was Larissa, and there were many in her facility who were still unaware of this project. Many of them thought that their primary goal, their only goal, was the Mars Conversion Project. Little did they know that the MCP was now nothing more than a mere front for the real work.
